The many ways of making money...

Mr Rajpow with the writer from Ipoh.

This writer was selling his own book during the Thaipusam festival. He aproached me and said " ithu naan ezhuthiaya buththaganggalil onru. Ithai vaanggi padiththu enakkum thamizhukkum oru uthavi seyyungga...". ( This is one of the many books I wrote. Support  tamil language  by buying one.)  Being a person who loved tamil so much, I bought it without hesitation, admiring his ability to write, publish and sell it himself for not many writers take the effort to selltheir books  themselves . They always take the short cut of getting an agent to do that job for them.

Read through his book after reaching home and found that it was more like an autobiography of himself, volume 7.  Well, what else was there except his young time heroics and how he was enjoying his life a few years back before he considered taking up writing seriously for making money.  It seemed to me as if this book was written in a hurry for there were too many spelling mistakes and  many more grammatical errors  in almost all chapters.   I think those who wrote the preface never completed reading it. Or could it be the case of writing one for the sake of his friendship... Whatever way it was, the writer overlooked the fact that its going to be reflecting his "tidak apa" attitude every time someone reads it.

Maybe the writer had wanted to make some quick bucks during the Thaipusam day...  However,  letting it through for printing without proper check for errors before the sale was a major setback on his part. He would have succeeded in making money. Even I bought one, not knowing who he was and what was inside the book and gave him my ten ringgit, simply because it was a tamil book and his courage of promoting it for sale himself.

Sad thing is he has to look for new faces to sell his books in future if he writes any, simply because those who had purchased his books previously would prefer better books to choose from than self praising loose characters that he was potraying...

However, I noticed  a few positive things that should be said about him too. He wrote what he felt were his best points in his life back then and  sold his books himself. ( I am not sure if I had seen any of his books in bookstores or libraries though....) Most importantly, he proved that there were one hundred ways to make money, without being at the wrong side of the law.

All those who are waiting for opportunities to come to them must learn something from him and improvise his method. He expressed one key factor subtly. Get hold of some books and be in a crowded areas and sell them .... surely there would be buyers and you would get enough money. This may once again construe as you dont really have to be an authour to write a book to sell. All you have to do is to get permission of an authour to sell his books ( or something the public wants ) and promote the sale at the crowded areas.

Since he is directly involved in the sales, Consider this;
1.5 million would have turned up for the Thaipusam festival this year. And as per statistic, 20 to 30 percent of those who  had come into contact with him would have bought his book.
And now, multiply it by 10.00 ringgit....
Less 30 percent from the collection for the paper and printing cost incurred....
What you get?
.................................
Wow....Isn't that good and being smart.....?
